Finnish Active Learning is a teachers´s digital learning and learning material for all devices. It consists of six schoolbags which contain several courses full of ideas for active learning. The courses complement the material used at school. The activity ideas support the STEAM-skills such as teamwork, communication and creativity. The courses are published gradually.
We are the designers of Finnish Active Learning, class teachers Teija Kauppi and Eija Leskinen. During our long careers as teachers, we have noticed that active learning motivates and inspires pupils. Pupils can experience the joy of learning and get experiments of succeeding more if they have possibilities to learn also by playing and moving.
An entirity called Welcome to the world of Finnish active learning consists of four courses which introduce active teaching and learning from different perspectives. There are also activity ideas and practices for teachers and pupils. The next courses will be published soon.
Course 4 is called Forming pairs and groups. Games. It consists of two lectures. One aim is to encourage teachers to use various ways in forming pairs and groups. We also introduce different game ideas for learning.There are also activity ideas and ideas for practices.
1. Forming pairs and groups
You can get acquainted with the advantages and disadvantages and the importance of pair and group work. We share some ideas of the equipment for forming pairs and groups. There are also concrete ideas on how the pupils can use their senses in forming pairs and groups.
2. Games
In the course we categorize some learning games. Games are an essential method in active learning.
