Look at the idea of  Finnish Active Learning:

This course is part of Maths Schoolbag entirety in Finnish Active Learning. The course provides more ideas for preschool teachers and class teachers to active teaching and learning. The main principals are the interaction, co-operation and participation of the pupils.

Maths Schoolbag’s courses are like idea banks, from where you can implement ideas and themes into your own teaching whenever you need help or ideas. You can implement the ideas alone with your group or by co-operating with other adults. You can arrange a theme day or a week, during which the pupils visit different activity stops. You always choose the activity ideas that are suitable for the group and its goals. Next year you can use different ideas when working on the same topic.

Course contents

First, we introduce the principles of active teaching and provide ideas for forming different groups. After that we look into the active learning of numbers and amounts, decomposing, and number comparisons. Skills can be applied with game and play ideas. Active entireties contain instructions for activity stops that can be utilized, for example, on a theme day. A summary about the course and further information is included at the end.

Designers of the courses of Finnish Active Learning

We are classroom teachers Teija Kauppi MAT (The Master of Arts in teaching) and Eija Leskinen MAT, a theatre pedagogue and nonfiction author. We have trained teachers, day school teachers and activity directors. Active learning has been a part of our teaching for our whole teaching careers. We have noticed that it motivates and inspires pupils to learn. Learning a new skill becomes easier when it is done by playing and moving. We hope that our course would inspire and encourage more teachers to try active teaching methods. For those, who already use active teaching as one of their techniques, we would like to share new ideas that make each school day even more enjoyable. The name of our company is Ideareppu / Finnish Active Learning.
