Welcome to get acquainted with the basics of teaching mathematics. In this course we introduce some ideas on how to teach multiplications using  active learning. We have noticed that active learning has many benefits. For example, it can improve pupils´ learning results, motivation and enjoying themselves in school. We want to share our rewarding teaching experiences to other teachers.

Contents of the course

Active learning has benefits both for pupils and for teachers. At the beginning of the course we introduce some thoughts about teaching multiplications. There are also activity ideas. Adding simple and  easy activities, even short moments, learning can improve. In this course we concentrate on active learning in the classroom. Diverse methods and utilizing classroom, its equipment and furniture motivates. Learning is more efficient and fun.

We introduce some ideas on how to form pairs and groups. We ponder the reasons for varying ways of forming pairs and groups. We also explain why it is important to form different pairs and groups. There are also some activity ideas with aims and detailed instructions and tips for assessment. Finally you can ponder your own teaching and experiences of the course.

Active learning inspires us.  Active learning has been a part of our teaching for our whole teaching careers. We have noticed that it motivates and inspires pupils to learn. Learning a new skill becomes easier when it is done by playing and moving.

We plan new learning activities all the time related to different school subjects. They diversify the teaching and complement school books´ material. At the moment we have concentrated in mathematics and beginner´s English. We are class teachers and the company is our avocation, so we don´t have time to create new courses all the time. The courses are published one by one.
During our long teaching careers we have noticed that active learning motivates pupils and helps to learn. One aim of our courses is to share activity ideas we have accomplished with our pupils so we know their benefits. Teachers can find ideas from the internet, too, but we like to use our imagination and create also something new. Another aim is to encourage less experienced teachers to try active teaching methods. The instructions of our activity ideas are extremely detailed, so it´s easy to understand them. We introduce versatile activity ideas, some are more time-consuming and some are very easy to organize, like the ones in this course. You can get acquainted with the courses in all devices.
